chemically etched brass plaques
In the military, it is a long-standing tradition to present farewell gifts when a service member changes duty stations, retires, or is recognized for exceptional performance. Plaques, paddles, and other commemorative items are common, but I wanted to create something different—something you would not find in a typical engraving shop or online gift store.
My goal was to create pieces worthy of becoming family heirlooms. As Marines, our heritage and traditions are deeply important to us, and when a gift is handcrafted by another Marine, it carries a level of meaning and sentiment that cannot be replicated. From the initial concept and graphic design to the composition, transfer process, and final etching, every step is unique. Each piece is carefully crafted by hand, resulting in a one-of-a-kind tribute that honors the individual, their service, and the traditions we share.
